In July 2026, Russian companies faced a record 417 million web attacks, marking a 41% increase compared to the 274 million incidents recorded in July 2025. Data from Solar WAF, a service by Solar Group, indicates that this surge is driven by the use of artificial intelligence tools that automate malicious activities.

The upward trend in cyber incidents began in May 2026 with 284 million attacks, followed by 317 million in June. The July peak represents the highest volume observed since monitoring began in January 2024. The transportation and logistics sector was the primary target, accounting for 71% of all attacks.

Other sectors impacted include the public sector at 15%, IT at 8%, and retail and energy at 6%. Analysts report that 93% of July incidents involved scanning applications to identify vulnerabilities. This reconnaissance phase allows even low-skilled attackers to generate significant results efficiently.

Following the July record, experts observed a sharp decline in activity during August. According to Alexey Pashkov, head of WAF at Solar Group, this shift suggests that hackers transitioned from mass automated scanning to more complex, resource-intensive operations aimed at exploiting previously discovered vulnerabilities.
