Breez, a Bitcoin software firm, reports a 14-fold increase in partnership inquiries following the widespread adoption of AI coding tools. The company attributes this surge to the release of Anthropic’s Claude Code, which became generally available in May 2025 after a February research preview.
Previously, interest in Breez developer tools came primarily from crypto enthusiasts and fintech firms. Now, developers from diverse sectors, including fitness, messaging, and travel services, are seeking to integrate Bitcoin payments. These developers prioritize the speed of the company's SDK, which allows for payment implementation within minutes compared to the weeks or months required for traditional banking setups.
A significant portion of new requests now originates from AI coding agents acting on behalf of their developers. Breez notes that these agents favor Bitcoin due to its permissionless nature, allowing them to establish global payment systems without the need for traditional bank accounts, onboarding checks, or complex documentation.
The company successfully managed the increased volume using its latest SDK, which is built on the Spark scaling protocol. Breez positions Bitcoin as essential infrastructure for the AI era, comparing its role to foundational utilities like electrical grids or subsea cables.
