Adobe has released a free version of Premiere for Android, offering video editing capabilities that surpass the legacy Premiere Rush. The application allows users to import unlimited video tracks, perform trimming and splitting, apply effects, and export content in up to 4K resolution. Additional features include audio extraction, background noise reduction, and voiceover recording.
The interface is optimized for various form factors, including foldable smartphones, where the timeline can be repositioned relative to the preview window. Testing on a Google Pixel showed that while 4K video import and export are supported, processing a three-minute 4K60 clip takes approximately three minutes. The app requires at least 5 GB of RAM to function.
While the core editor is free, AI-powered tools require a Creative Cloud subscription. Users receive 250 monthly credits for AI video generation using models like Google Firefly, Veo, Omni, Luma Ray, and Kling. A single Veo Fast clip costs 80 credits, while Firefly generation consumes the entire monthly allowance of 250 credits.
To increase the monthly limit to 1200 credits, users can opt for a paid plan priced at $8 per month or $70 per year. The application is also optimized for Googlebook laptops, providing a mobile-centric workflow without the immediate requirement of a subscription for standard editing tasks.
