Tech industry leaders, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, have recently advocated for a slowdown in the development of advanced artificial intelligence systems.

Acer Chairman Jason Chen dismissed the possibility of such a pause, stating that technological progress is accelerating and cannot be stopped. He emphasized that the focus should shift toward effective governance and regulation during this rapid development phase.

Acer founder Stan Shih echoed these sentiments, noting that technological advancement is inherently unstoppable. He also addressed the impact on Taiwan's semiconductor industry, suggesting that a slowdown is unlikely and noting that current production capacity in the region is insufficient to keep pace with the current speed of AI development.

Other industry figures have expressed differing views on the matter. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg suggested prioritizing independent external evaluations over slowing development, while Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang explicitly opposed the calls for a deceleration, stating that the industry will not reach a critical end point by 2030.
