Accenture has launched a new unit called the Gemini Enterprise Business Group. This initiative involves a partnership with Google Cloud to train up to 1,000 forward-deployed engineers (FDEs). These specialists will work directly at customer sites to assist in planning and developing AI applications based on the Gemini Enterprise platform.
The collaboration aims to address the challenges companies face when implementing generative AI. According to Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, many organizations lack the necessary internal expertise, data pipelines, and system architecture to deploy AI tools independently. Embedded engineers are intended to bridge this gap by integrating models into production systems.
Accenture CEO Julie Sweet noted that clients are seeking tangible growth and impact on their bottom line from AI investments. The strategy of placing technologists directly within client offices is designed to help businesses overcome obstacles in redesigning processes and managing the organizational changes required by new technology.
Recent industry trends show that businesses are increasingly scrutinizing their AI spending after a period of rapid expenditure. While many firms report positive returns on investment over the past year, most organizations anticipate that the significant financial payback from AI will materialize over a five to six-year timeline.
