Anish Acharya, a partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (A16z), has publicly dismissed concerns regarding the emergence of a permanent underclass driven by artificial intelligence. He characterized the fear that individuals failing to work at leading AI labs or utilize the latest tools will be left behind as an absurd and dark fantasy.

Acharya emphasized that the distribution of opportunities in the current AI era is significantly broader than in previous technology booms. He noted that there is no concentration of power, with approximately 20 influential players operating at every layer of the AI technology stack, preventing a winner-takes-all scenario.

The partner highlighted the success of various independent products in the coding agent market, including Claude Code, Codex, Lovable, Replit, and Wabi. He argued that the existence of multiple successful companies in this space is an encouraging sign for the industry's competitive landscape.

Furthermore, Acharya pointed to strong recruitment demand in sectors outside of the core technology and AI industries, such as radiology. Based on these observations, he concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support the theory that a permanent underclass is being created.
