Julian Sawyer is stepping down as CEO of Zodia Custody, a position he held since January 2023. He will transition into an advisory role as the company undergoes a major structural reorganization.
Standard Chartered announced in May 2026 its plan to acquire the regulated custody business of Zodia. The deal has received approval from shareholders and noteholders, with completion targeted for late August 2026.
Following the acquisition, the regulated custody operations will be integrated into the bank's Financing and Securities Services division, and the Zodia Custody brand will be retired.
The company's infrastructure arm is being spun off into a new entity named Zodia Solutions, in which SC Ventures will retain a majority stake.
Zodia Custody currently operates under licenses from the FCA in the UK, CSSF in Luxembourg, and ADGM FSRA in the UAE, supporting cold storage for over 75 digital assets.
