ZetaChain has proposed a transition from its own Layer-1 blockchain to the Solana network. The governance vote, which began on September 17 and concludes on September 20, asks token holders to approve the shutdown of the existing L1 and a conversion of ZETA tokens into a native Solana SPL token at a 1:1 ratio.
The migration plan maintains the current token economics, keeping the total supply capped at 2.1 billion tokens with no new minting. Validation responsibilities will shift to Solana validators. Tokens currently held on Ethereum and BNB Chain will remain unaffected during the transition, pending necessary exchange confirmations.
The project intends to integrate the Anuma AI application, which has over 300,000 users, as the primary utility for the ZETA token on Solana. This move follows security issues in April 2026 that led to the disabling of core cross-chain deposit and interoperability services by June 30, 2026.
Following the announcement, the price of ZETA rose by approximately 11%, while trading volume increased by about 40%. The proposal involves a 72-hour voting window for the decision to wind down the blockchain.
