Zero Motorcycles announced that DC fast charging will be introduced in 2027. This feature has been a long-requested addition for the company's electric motorcycles, which previously relied solely on AC charging.

The update will apply to several models, including the S, SR, SR/S, SR/F, DS, DSR, and DSR/X. To be compatible, these motorcycles must be equipped with the Cypher III Operating System and have battery capacities up to 17.3 kWh.

The company also confirmed that some models from as far back as the 2022 model year may be eligible for upgrades to the new charging technology. However, specific charging standards and peak power levels have not yet been disclosed.

Currently, high-end Zero motorcycles use AC charging. For example, the SR/F model features a 6.6 kW onboard charger, which can be upgraded to 12.6 kW with a Rapid Charging Module, allowing for a nearly full recharge in approximately 90 minutes.
