The Zcash community has concluded sentiment polls regarding the upcoming Network Upgrade 7. Results published on September 14 show that 98.9% of ZEC holders voted to maintain the current halving schedule, rejecting a proposal for a smoothed issuance model.

Participants also supported ZIP 218, which proposes reducing block intervals from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. This change aims to triple network throughput while keeping the hard supply cap of 21 million ZEC unchanged.

Regarding other network parameters, voters favored 2031 as the start date for the reissuance of coins removed from circulation. The polls also covered the deprecation of the legacy Sprout pool.

Data indicates that 4.89 million ZEC are currently held in shielded pools, accounting for 28.9% of the total circulating supply. Shielded transactions represent 59.3% of recent network activity.

These polls are advisory and serve to gauge community preference. Implementing these changes requires further development, testing, and formal activation through the Zcash Improvement Proposal mechanism.
