The Zano privacy blockchain has suspended all transactions and confidential asset operations following the discovery of an inflation bug. The vulnerability, identified on September 25, 2026, allowed for the unauthorized creation of coins.
The flaw is linked to the Gateway Addresses feature, which was implemented during the Hard Fork 6 update on August 26, 2026, at block 3,833,000. This feature was intended to facilitate service integrations while maintaining network privacy.
To address the issue, the development team plans a blockchain rollback of approximately 24 hours. Users have been instructed to cease all economic activity on the primary chain and the Confidential Assets layer until the process is finalized.
The project has committed to compensating affected users, though specific details regarding the reimbursement process and the exact number of unauthorized coins generated remain undisclosed. The precise block height for the rollback has not been made public.
