The Zano blockchain team has initiated a rollback of approximately one month of transaction history following a security vulnerability. The exploit involved the Gateway Addresses feature, which allowed unauthorized ZANO tokens and Freedom Dollar (fUSD) to enter circulation.

The network was restarted at block height 3,833,000, which corresponds to the state immediately preceding Hard Fork 6. This update requires all network participants, including miners, stakers, exchanges, and node operators, to adopt the new chain state.

The rollback invalidates all transactions processed during the affected month, including legitimate ones. The project team stated that they are developing a reimbursement and claims process to address losses incurred by users during this period.

Gateway Addresses were originally introduced to simplify integration for exchanges and payment services by enabling account-style balance management. Prior to this, Zano utilized a UTXO-based model where funds were tracked as separate transaction outputs.
