The city of Thessaloniki has integrated 50 new electric buses from Chinese manufacturer Yutong into its public transport system. These 18-meter-long articulated buses are operated by the public transport authority OASTH on four specific routes: X1, 12, 27, and 32, primarily serving the western part of the city.

OASTH has expanded its workforce by hiring 170 additional drivers to support the fleet expansion. The authority plans to introduce new routes and increase the frequency of service. This latest addition brings the total number of electric buses in OASTH's operation to approximately 160 vehicles.

Each new articulated bus can carry up to 130 passengers and features air conditioning, ventilation systems, and tilt-and-turn windows. The buses have a stated range of 300 kilometers. While the specific model name was not disclosed, it is likely the Yutong U18, which offers battery capacities between 528 and 704 kWh depending on the configuration.
