On October 11, 2026, a drone strike hit Yandex's data center in Vladimir, resulting in a complete shutdown of the facility. This incident marks the third attack on the company's data centers within a week, following strikes on sites in Sasovo on October 7-8 and Kaluga on October 8-9.
The disruption has affected various Yandex services, including Yandex Pay, Yandex Go, Yandex 360, and Yandex Eda. External platforms such as Kinopoisk, Magnit, Flowwow, and Cian also reported service failures. Additionally, the DDX Fitness chain experienced operational delays due to system issues.
In response to the attacks, Yandex updated its user agreement to include drone strikes, military actions, terrorist attacks, and explosions under force majeure conditions. This change, effective after the September 18, 2026, version, exempts the company from liability for service outages caused by these events.
Yandex follows a trend set by Ozon and Wildberries, which previously adjusted their terms to shift liability for infrastructure damage. Following the initial attack in Sasovo, Yandex also removed its data center locations from online maps, though the company has not provided official comments on these measures.
