XPeng has launched an automated production line for its IRON humanoid robot in Guangzhou, with over 80% of core processes automated. The company aims to reach mass production by the end of 2026, utilizing automotive-grade quality systems borrowed from its electric vehicle manufacturing.

The IRON robot features 76 degrees of freedom in its body and 21 in each hand, enclosed in a flexible lattice structure. It is powered by three in-house Turing AI chips providing up to 2,250 TOPS, allowing the robot to operate using a Physical AI foundation model without remote human teleoperation.

The company's robotics arm recently raised over $900 million at a valuation of $6.3 billion, a round led by IDG Capital with participation from Tencent and Alibaba. XPeng plans to produce more than 1,000 robots per month, with a long-term goal of reaching one million units per year by 2030.

The initial rollout will see the first robots deployed in XPeng's own stores and campuses. Commercial sales and deliveries both in China and international markets are scheduled to begin in 2027.
