Xpeng has officially entered the robotaxi market with the launch of its Yoyo brand. The service is currently available to a limited group of users in Guangzhou, where the vehicles are manufactured. Access to the platform requires an invitation code, marking the first phase of the company's commercial deployment strategy.
The business model centers on Xpeng providing the vehicles and autonomous technology, while external partners manage fleet operations. This approach allows the manufacturer to generate revenue through hardware sales, service fees, and commissions without acting as a direct fleet operator. Amap is confirmed as the first ecosystem partner for the project.
The robotaxi fleet is based on the Xpeng GX SUV, which entered series production in May 2026. The vehicle is designed for Level 4 autonomous driving and utilizes four proprietary Turing AI chips with a total computing power of 3,000 TOPS. Notably, the design does not incorporate lidar sensors.
The company aims to transition to fully autonomous operations without safety personnel by early 2027. By separating vehicle development from operational management, Xpeng intends to scale its mobility services through existing platforms and strategic partnerships, as outlined by CEO He Xiaopeng earlier this year.
