Xiaomi has teased a special announcement for its upcoming event, using the iconic phrase 'One more thing' to hint at the return of a transparent smartphone design. The company noted that this specific aesthetic has not appeared in its lineup for six years, with the last model being the Xiaomi 10 Ultra Transparent Edition released in August 2020.
The manufacturer previously launched devices with transparent backs, including the Xiaomi 8 Explorer Edition and the Xiaomi 9 Transparent Edition. The new transparent version is expected to be the surprise reveal during the presentation of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series, which takes place today, September 23, in China.
The upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will feature next-generation 2nm Snapdragon platforms and a Leica camera system equipped with two 200-megapixel sensors. Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing confirmed that the standard Xiaomi 18 model will not be showcased today and will be introduced at a separate event at a later date.
