Xiaomi has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its new Mijia metal suitcase, priced at ¥1699. The luggage features a body constructed from a combination of 6-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy frames and 5-series aluminum-magnesium alloy shells, utilizing a rivet-free assembly process that involves approximately 150 manufacturing steps.
The suitcase is equipped with silent universal wheels developed in partnership with HINOMOTO, which have received SGS certification. According to laboratory data, the wheels show less than 2 millimeters of wear after 72 kilometers of travel and maintain noise levels below 43 decibels. The wheels also passed durability tests at six times the national standard.
The telescopic handle is made of aviation-grade 6-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy and supports four height adjustments. It has been tested to remain smooth after 18,000 cycles of operation. The interior offers a 37-liter capacity, suitable for trips lasting 3 to 5 days, and features a dual-sided U-shaped zipper closure with antibacterial lining.
Additional features include a TSA-approved central locking system that allows both latches to be opened with a single press. The design incorporates zinc alloy corner protectors, slow-rebound handles, and microfiber synthetic leather grips. The entire unit has undergone rigorous performance testing to meet and exceed national standards.
