Xiaomi has officially commenced the delivery of its new SUV model, Pengcheng, across 75 cities in China. The rollout began on September 12, marking a significant milestone for the company's automotive division.
Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, personally attended the inaugural delivery event held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province. During the ceremony, he greeted the first group of owners by opening their car doors and handing over the keys.
The choice of Xuzhou for the launch event is symbolic, as the city was historically known as Pengcheng. This name shares a phonetic similarity with the new SUV model, Pengcheng, which the company highlighted as part of the regional celebration.
While the company did not host an official livestream of the event, footage of the CEO's participation was widely shared by local media and bystanders. The local broadcaster, Wireless Xuzhou, officially welcomed the arrival of the vehicle in the city.
