Tech insider Ice Universe conducted a comparative analysis of 200-megapixel photos captured by the Xiaomi 18 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The test focused on image resolution, file size, and detail retention in complex textures.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro produced a 201-megapixel image with a resolution of 12,288 x 16,384 pixels and a file size of 82.38 MB. In contrast, the Galaxy S26 Ultra generated a photo with a resolution of 12,240 x 16,320 pixels and a size of 63.52 MB.
Both devices utilized the JPEG format for storage. The Xiaomi file size is approximately 30% larger than that of the Samsung device. According to the report, this increased data volume correlates with higher detail retention in complex areas such as foliage and thin branches.
The analysis suggests that the Xiaomi 18 Pro provides superior color saturation and sharper visual output. Ice Universe noted that while the Samsung HP2 sensor remains capable, it is beginning to show its age in demanding scenes compared to the Xiaomi 18 Pro.
