Xiaomi has introduced a new file transfer feature for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, running on HyperOS 4. This capability allows users to exchange files directly with Apple devices using the AirDrop protocol. To facilitate the transfer, the recipient must configure their Apple device's AirDrop settings to 'Everyone (10 minutes)' via the Control Center.
The underlying technology for this cross-platform compatibility is Google's Quick Share solution. Google first implemented this interoperability on its Pixel 10 series in November 2025. The feature relies on the Apple Wireless Direct Link protocol, which Google reportedly replicated through clean-room reverse engineering, utilizing a security architecture built with Rust.
Several other manufacturers have already integrated this support, including Samsung, Google, OPPO, and vivo. Xiaomi previously enabled similar functionality on the 17T Pro in June 2026. While other HyperOS 3 devices may receive updates, hardware limitations may restrict availability to flagship models only. Data transfers occur via secure point-to-point connections without server relay.
Additionally, the Xiaomi Interconnect app now supports Apple Watch integration for users on HyperOS 4.0.1 or higher. Compatible watches include Apple Watch Series 6, SE 2, Ultra series, and newer models running watchOS 11. This allows for notification syncing, health data synchronization, and device location features between the Xiaomi smartphone and the Apple wearable.
