Xiaomi has announced that the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro smartphone series will be the first to feature the new Leica Legendary Moment photography mode. The company states that this mode uses advanced image processing to mimic the optical bokeh effect and image quality typically associated with professional-grade cameras.
A key technical feature of the new system involves the direct transmission of sensor data to the cloud. This process utilizes millions of samples for multidimensional training, which the company claims allows the device to achieve professional-level background blur and image rendering.
The camera system on the Xiaomi 18 Pro consists of a dual 200-megapixel setup developed in partnership with Leica. It includes a new 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, a 75mm focal length, and 3.2x optical zoom capabilities.
The device supports lossless shooting at up to 12.8x magnification. Additionally, the integrated floating dual-lens focusing system enables tele-macro photography, allowing users to capture subjects from a minimum distance of 12 centimeters.
