The XChat messaging application, developed for the X social network, has been removed from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The platform has not issued an official statement regarding the removal, but reports suggest that the decision to pull the app from Apple's store originated from X management rather than Apple itself.

Announced by Elon Musk in June 2025, XChat was designed as a secure communication tool within the broader vision of creating an all-in-one super-app. The service offered features such as text messaging, audio and video calls, file sharing, disappearing messages, and screenshot protection, with a promise of no advertisements or tracking mechanisms.

If the removal indicates a permanent shutdown of the service, the standalone messaging project will have existed in the public domain for less than six months. The sudden disappearance from major app repositories has led to speculation that the company has decided to discontinue the development and support of the platform entirely.
