Developer RafaelNGP has released the PSBox Cloud Gaming application on GitHub, allowing users to stream Xbox games on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles. The software operates through homebrew loaders like ShadowMountPlus and requires an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription for access.
The client supports streaming at 1080p60 by default, with options for 720p and experimental 1440p resolutions. It utilizes the PS5 GPU for 4K upscaling via AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K. Current limitations include H.264 CPU decoding, the absence of HDR, and a bitrate of 10 to 12 Mbps.
The DualSense controller is fully supported, including vibration and voice chat functionality. Recent updates, such as version 0.9.5, introduced Remote Play capabilities for personal Xbox consoles. The developer warns that Microsoft may restrict access to the underlying services at any time.
This release follows a series of homebrew projects for the PS5, including emulators for Nintendo Switch and PS2, as well as ports for titles like Halo 2. Early testers have reported technical issues such as macroblocking, visual artifacts, and vibration glitches.
