X has introduced a new feature allowing users in the United States to execute stock trades directly through their timelines. The platform now integrates with several brokerage services, enabling users to transition from viewing market discussions to placing orders without leaving the application.
The initial list of brokerage partners includes Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase. This functionality extends to stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies, building upon the existing Cashtag system that previously served only for tracking financial conversations and ticker symbols.
According to X Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai, the update aims to bridge the gap between market discussions and direct asset trading. Users can access live charts and brokerage interfaces by tapping on ticker symbols, which now feature integrated trading options.
Monique Pintarelli, Head of Global Advertising at SpaceXAI, noted that the feature is designed to facilitate real-time financial actions. While the platform enables seamless transitions to brokerages, some observers suggest the integration could potentially increase risks related to market manipulation by automated bots.
