X Corp., owned by Elon Musk, has officially filed documents with a US federal court in Texas to withdraw its antitrust lawsuit against Apple. The original complaint alleged that Apple provided preferential treatment to OpenAI within the App Store ecosystem, which hindered the growth of xAI products like Grok.
The lawsuit claimed that Apple's integration of ChatGPT into its Apple Intelligence platform constituted anti-competitive behavior. The plaintiffs argued that Apple engaged in exclusive collaboration with OpenAI and intentionally limited the visibility of X and its AI applications within the App Store to maintain its market dominance.
Court records confirm that the claims against Apple have been resolved and dismissed. However, the documents do not specify the reasons for the withdrawal or indicate whether a formal settlement agreement was reached between the two parties.
The withdrawal applies exclusively to the case against Apple. Musk and his affiliated entities intend to continue their legal proceedings against OpenAI regarding allegations of monopolistic practices and unfair competition, keeping the focus of the dispute on AI ecosystem control.
