The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has transitioned its FRNT stable token infrastructure from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. This decision follows an internal security review that identified operational failures at LayerZero Labs.
The commission cited concerns regarding access controls, private key management, and incident disclosures. Specifically, the agency noted that LayerZero failed to transfer production authorization and did not maintain control of a critical private key.
The review was prompted by a $292 million exploit involving KelpDAO, where attackers compromised LayerZero infrastructure to release funds on Ethereum. The commission concluded that LayerZero no longer meets the security standards required for state-backed digital assets.
Chainlink CCIP was selected as the exclusive cross-chain infrastructure for FRNT. The commission stated that this solution met its institutional requirements due to its decentralized node network, rate limits, and direct issuer control over contracts.
