Hubei Mobile is partnering with China Information Communication Technologies Group, the Zhongguancun Ubiquitous Network Research Institute, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology to establish a 6G industrial test zone in Wuhan Optics Valley.

The project aims to complete three major infrastructure facilities by 2027: a large-scale 6G integrated test network, a 6G sensing-communication-computing integration device, and a 6G intelligent reconfigurable surface testing platform.

The 6G outdoor base stations will cover an area of approximately 3.3 square kilometers within the Wuhan Future Technology City Information Port and its surrounding districts, creating the largest planned 6G integrated test network in China.

The initiative includes building pilot platforms for 6G sensing and intelligent surfaces to provide testing services for companies in the supply chain. This effort aims to lower research costs and accelerate the commercialization of 6G technologies.

The project organizers plan to develop core products such as 6G base stations and terminals. By attracting companies specializing in chips, modules, and equipment, the region intends to become a hub for 6G industrial incubation and standard setting.
