The World Bank Group attracted approximately $69 billion in private capital during the 2025 fiscal year, marking an increase from $47 billion in the previous year. When including all enabled private capital, the total reaches about $161.7 billion.

Under President Ajay Banga, who assumed leadership in June 2023, the institution is shifting toward an originate-to-distribute model. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) now bundles loans into securities for sale to outside investors.

In September 2025, the IFC finalized its first collateralized loan obligation (CLO) valued at $510 million, which combined loans from 57 borrowers. The organization aims to reach $20 billion in annual guarantee issuance by 2030.

To support this strategy, the bank launched a new guarantees platform and a Private Sector Investment Lab. These initiatives are intended to mitigate risks associated with investing in frontier markets for institutional investors.

Data for the five-year period ending in mid-2025 shows total financing between $524.5 billion and $560 billion. Private capital mobilization accounted for roughly $200 billion of this total volume.
