Gateway Fleets, a California-based provider of electric vehicle solutions, has placed a follow-on order for 200 Workhorse W56 electric step vans. The vehicles will be purchased through Kingsburg Truck Center and leased to independent last-mile delivery providers.
Deliveries of the W56 vans are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2027 and will continue throughout 2028. Gateway Fleets plans to bundle these trucks with charging infrastructure and fleet support services to reduce upfront capital requirements for operators.
The W56 model features a 210 kWh battery, a payload capacity of 10,000 lbs, and a range of 150 miles. The vehicle offers 1,000 cubic feet of cargo space and is built on a 178-inch wheelbase configuration.
Workhorse manufactures the W56 at its facility in Union City, Indiana. The plant has an annual production capacity of up to 5,000 vehicles on a standard shift. To date, the company has delivered more than 1,100 electric vehicles.
