WiTricity has launched a new facility in Florida dedicated to the development and testing of inductive charging technology. The laboratory focuses on adapting and validating systems for various vehicle types, including passenger cars, autonomous robotaxis, and fleet vehicles.

The new center works with charging systems ranging from 7.2 kW to 50 kW. The technology utilizes a receiver mounted on the vehicle underbody that receives energy from a ground-based pad through magnetic coupling. This approach aims to automate the charging process for autonomous fleets.

The company has previously demonstrated its technology on vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3 and Ford Mustang Mach-E with 11 kW power. Additionally, WiTricity maintains capabilities for heavy-duty applications, offering systems with 75 kW or more for buses, logistics vehicles, and machinery.

While the company is expanding its testing infrastructure, it has not disclosed specific investment figures, facility size, or details regarding new series production contracts. WiTricity continues to focus on integrating its existing inductive charging solutions into diverse automotive platforms.
