Users of the 4t Tray Minimizer utility are reporting frequent File Explorer crashes following the installation of the Windows 10 update KB5126256, released by Microsoft on September 8. This specific update is designed as an Extended Security Update (ESU) licensing preparation package for Windows 10 versions 21H2 and 22H2.
According to reports from the Reddit community, the issue triggers the automatic background launch of the Copilot process, mscopilot_proxy.exe, whenever a user clicks on a file within File Explorer. Although the system's Reliability Monitor identifies Microsoft Edge as the source of the crash, the root cause lies in a conflict between the update and the third-party software.
The investigation revealed that the ShellEh6055x64.dll module, which is part of the 4t Tray Minimizer tool, is incompatible with the Copilot agent process. Developed by 4t Niagra Software, this utility is intended to minimize background application icons to the system tray to free up space on the taskbar.
