The Western Australian government is transitioning the Transperth bus network to electric vehicles. Federal and state authorities have committed AUD 250 million to replace diesel units with locally produced electric buses and to modernize depot infrastructure.
The Karrinyup Bus Depot is now the third facility in Perth to complete an electrification upgrade. JET Charge managed the project, which included design, construction, and commissioning, while Kempower provided the charging hardware.
The site currently supports 71 electric buses, with plans to expand capacity to 110 vehicles by the end of the year. The facility features 56 Kempower Satellites, offering 112 CCS2 charging plugs with a power output of up to 150 kW each.
Additional infrastructure projects are currently in progress at the Bayswater and Jandakot North depots, where Kempower equipment is also being installed. To date, 173 electric buses have been delivered to the network.
