Waymo is expanding its driverless robotaxi service area by nearly 250 square miles over the coming week. The expansion covers five major US markets: Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, the service now extends to the South Bay, including Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance. The San Jose coverage now reaches the BART station at Berryessa, spanning from San Francisco down the Peninsula to Campbell.

The San Diego service area has grown to include La Jolla, University City, and Clairemont. These updates follow the initial public launch in San Diego on September 1 and the Nashville debut in April.

Waymo currently operates in 15 US metropolitan areas, reporting over 500,000 paid rides per week. As of the second quarter of 2026, the company recorded 3.9 million rider-only miles per week.

The company is also preparing for international expansion with mapping underway in Toronto for a planned 2028 launch. Waymo is currently testing highway operations in California with plans to link service areas within two years.
