British developer Watt Electric Vehicle (WEVC) has partnered with Qatari investor JTA to launch the country's first dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility. The plant is scheduled to commence production in early 2028, with an initial output target of approximately 5000 units annually.

The facility will produce a passenger EV and a medium-sized delivery van based on the company's eCV1 model. All vehicles will utilize the proprietary PACES platform, a lightweight bonded-aluminum architecture designed to reduce tooling and manufacturing costs through the FlexTech assembly system.

Engineers will adapt the vehicles for the local climate, focusing on thermal management and battery performance in high temperatures. Initial production will target the Qatari market, with subsequent plans to export to Gulf Cooperation Council countries and other international regions.

WEVC plans to design and engineer these vehicles at a new facility in the UK Midlands, supplementing its existing operations in Cornwall and Worcestershire. This partnership serves as a model for the company's global expansion strategy, which includes future manufacturing sites in the US and Asia.
