Tech influencer Wang Ziru released a video on September 25 advising against purchasing the iPhone 18 Pro. He characterized the new model as a minor upgrade, arguing that the performance improvements do not justify an immediate purchase for existing users.

The iPhone 18 Pro features the A20 Pro chip, which offers significant gains in AI processing, CPU, and GPU performance compared to the A17 Pro. However, Wang noted that these enhancements are difficult to perceive during daily tasks, gaming, or photography.

Design-wise, the device retains the Dynamic Island, flat edges, and titanium construction of its predecessor, offering little visual differentiation. Wang emphasized that the lack of a distinct new look makes it less appealing to users seeking a noticeable upgrade.

Market data shows that the iPhone 18 Pro series experienced price drops in third-party channels shortly after launch, with the 256GB model falling below the official retail price. This trend suggests weak market demand and a shift in consumer behavior.

Global smartphone replacement cycles have extended to 3–4 years, with even longer cycles observed in the Chinese market. Consumers are increasingly evaluating the value of new devices, moving away from annual upgrades as technological progress reaches a plateau.
