The Tiger Li-Ion electric baggage tug, manufactured by Waev, is designed for airport ground handling operations. The vehicle features a 60 000 lb payload capacity and is powered by a 48 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 60 miles on a single charge.
Waev reports that the electric tug can save fleet operators over $19 000 per year in fuel costs per unit. Additionally, the vehicle reduces carbon emissions by more than 3,5 tons annually. The tug supports charging via standard 120V infrastructure or 240V, 50-amp L2 chargers.
Safety features include anti-rollover technology, programmable speed settings of 10, 12, or 15 mph, and an automatic brake interlock. The vehicle also incorporates an operator sensor that cuts drive power if the driver leaves the seat, alongside high-visibility LED lighting.
