Volvo Trucks has officially launched series production of the FH Aero Electric model at its facility in Tuve, Sweden. This long-haul electric vehicle features a total battery capacity of 780 kWh, with 725 kWh of usable energy, allowing for a range of 700 kilometers on a single charge.
The model, which includes a new e-axle, has been available for customer orders since mid-June. The manufacturer highlights that the FH Aero Electric, alongside the updated FH, FM, and FMX Electric lines, expands the range of transport tasks that can be performed using electric power.
At the IAA Transportation event, Volvo also unveiled a new electric truck designed for a gross combination weight of 80 tonnes. This heavy-haul vehicle consists of an electric truck with a fixed body and a trailer, targeting markets in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
For the 80-tonne model, the company expects a range of up to 450 kilometers when operating at a gross weight of 64 tonnes. At higher weights of 74 or 76 tonnes, the range is estimated at 420 kilometers. The market introduction for the FH Electric with a fixed body is scheduled to begin in early 2027.
