Volvo has introduced a software update for the EX30, adding vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities. This allows the car to act as a mobile power bank, powering external devices such as laptops, coffee makers, and refrigerators, or even entire campsites.
The system delivers up to 3 kW at 16 amps. To prevent battery depletion, the energy supply is automatically cut off when the battery level drops below 20%. Connection is made via a separate adapter connected to the charge port.
V2L functions are not available for drivers in the US, Canada, Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, or Japan. In EMEA, APAC, and Latin America markets, the system uses the CCS2 charging standard.
The update also brings a new user experience with a redesigned settings menu and a customizable contextual bar. In some European markets, Plug & Charge capabilities are being introduced for 2026 models and newer, simplifying public charging by removing the need for apps or cards.
