Michael He has been appointed as the head of Volvo Cars' sales company in Greater China. He brings extensive experience from previous leadership roles at Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti, and BMW, having managed sales operations in various regions of the Chinese market.

This appointment follows the voluntary resignation of the previous head of the Greater China sales company, Yu Kexin. The company has undergone several leadership changes in its regional management team recently.

In May, Duan Jianjun was named the new President and CEO of Volvo Cars Greater China. He replaced Yuan Xiaolin, who stepped down from daily operational management after 16 years with the company, including a role as the head of the merger and acquisition process during Geely's acquisition of Volvo in 2010.

Volvo Cars reported global sales of 148,239 vehicles from June to August 2026, representing a 7.4% year-on-year decrease. The company attributed this decline to a sluggish Chinese market caused by macroeconomic weakness and intense competition.

The company also noted a weakness in demand for pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the US market, which impacted overall sales performance. Volvo stated that the entire automotive industry, including the luxury segment, is facing pressure across all regional markets.
