French startup VoltR has raised €22 million to expand its lithium battery remanufacturing operations. The funding consists of €16 million in equity from the SPI 2 Fund, managed by Bpifrance, and Decathlon PULSE, alongside €6 million in grants from the Premiere Usine program.
Founded in 2022 by Alban Regnier, Francois Mallet, Thibaud Maufront, and CEO Maxime Bleskine, the company repurposes battery cells that have completed their first life cycle. The startup has already validated its concept by placing more than 20,000 batteries on the market.
The capital will be used to automate production processes and enhance diagnostic technologies. VoltR plans to double the size of its facility in Verrieres-en-Anjou and increase production capacity sixfold within two years. The company currently employs about 40 people and aims to add 40 more jobs.
The firm serves various sectors, including micromobility, power tools, and mobile energy storage. This latest round follows a €4 million seed investment announced in April 2024. The company intends to use these resources to strengthen its position in the European battery value chain.
