The upcoming electric Tiguan will replace the ID.4 and ID.5 models. As part of a broader rebranding strategy, Volkswagen is moving away from its numeric naming system (ID.3, ID.4, ID.5) and adopting well-known nameplates like Polo and Cross for its electric lineup.

A recent video from Autogefühl reveals a wider, more traditional SUV shape for the electric Tiguan, closely resembling the gas-powered version. The vehicle also features new pop-out door handles, replacing the previous flush-style handles.

The interior is expected to feature a new EV cabin design and an updated infotainment system. Based on customer feedback, Volkswagen is reintroducing physical buttons for climate control and other common functions, a change already seen in the ID.3 Neo, ID. Polo, and ID. Cross.

The electric Tiguan will be built on the new MEB+ platform. This platform is expected to provide improvements in driving range and charging speeds compared to current models. The current ID.4 RWD version has an EPA-estimated range of up to 291 miles, while the AWD version offers around 263 miles, and the 2026 ID.4 reaches up to 351 miles (566 km) under WLTP conditions.
