Volkswagen has announced that the ID.Tiguan will replace the discontinued ID.4 crossover in its electric vehicle lineup. The company aims to leverage the established Tiguan brand name to improve market appeal for its battery-electric offerings.

The ID.Tiguan is scheduled for a European release in early 2027. It will be part of a refreshed electric portfolio alongside the ID.Polo and ID.Cross. Volkswagen confirmed that the model will also be available in the US at a later date.

The ID.4, which launched in 2020, reached 950 000 units sold since 2021 before production ended at the Chattanooga factory in April 2026. The company considers it one of its most successful electric model series to date.

The new model will feature physical controls for volume and climate settings, addressing feedback from the ID.4. The interior will align with the ID.3 NEO and ID.Polo, incorporating an Android Automotive-based operating system with a Gemini-powered voice assistant.
