Volkswagen is rebranding its electric SUV, the ID.4, to the ID. Tiguan starting in 2027. The updated model will coexist with the traditional internal combustion engine version of the Tiguan, similar to the strategy used for the ID. Polo and the standard Polo.

The vehicle is built on the dedicated MEB electric architecture, distinguishing it from the MQB-based gasoline and diesel Tiguan models. While the overall size and shape remain largely unchanged, the exterior features redesigned front and rear lighting units.

The interior undergoes significant revisions, including the removal of touch sliders in favor of physical buttons beneath the central touchscreen. The cabin also gains a larger digital instrument cluster, dedicated steering-wheel controls, and individual window switches.

The ID. Tiguan is scheduled to launch in Europe in early 2027. Volkswagen plans to introduce the model to the North American market at a later date, where it will serve as the successor to the current ID.4.
