The ID. California Cruise is the first model in a new family of all-electric camper vans from Volkswagen, unveiled at Caravan Salon 2026. The vehicle is based on the ID. Buzz and will be available in both short- and long-wheelbase variants.

Inside, the camper features a fold-out bed measuring 2.03 meters long and 1.20 meters wide, providing sleeping space for two people. The cabin is equipped with blackout shades and ventilation grilles on the front-side windows.

Developed in collaboration with Stuff Bubble, the vehicle's equipment allows it to be converted into a full camper in a few minutes. Volkswagen is also including two camping chairs and a table as part of the package.

The model includes the Interior Style Package, Comfort Package, and a PowerSocket discharge adapter for vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities. With up to 3.6 kW of power, it can function as a mobile power bank for appliances and e-bikes.

The vehicle features a new California mode for overnight stays and a dedicated California app for navigating to charging stations. The ID. California Cruise starts at €60 761 in Germany, with deliveries starting in early 2027.

Based on the ID. Buzz Pro, the short-wheelbase version has a 79 kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to 461 km. The long-wheelbase version uses an 86 kWh battery with a range of up to 487 km.
