The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pro Long Wheelbase has officially entered the Guinness World Records for the most countries visited in a continuous journey by an electric vehicle. Driver Rainer Zietlow completed the global expedition, which spanned 92 countries across six continents. The journey covered a total distance of 99,767 kilometers over 445 days.

The route began in Hanover, Germany, and included travel through the United States, Africa, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and China. The vehicle required more than 300 charging cycles and was transported via 16 container ships. Throughout the entire trip, the van experienced no technical breakdowns.

Following the expedition, TÜV Nord inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the 86 kWh high-voltage battery retained 95.75 percent of its state of health. The ID. Buzz Pro LWB features a WLTP range of up to 498 kilometers and supports DC fast-charging up to 200 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in under 30 minutes.

The official Guinness World Record certificate was presented at the IAA Transportation 2026 event. Zietlow noted that the electric powertrain performed reliably in diverse environments, including deserts and mountainous regions, while avoiding the maintenance issues often associated with internal combustion engines in various global markets.
