Regional performance varied significantly. European BEV sales rose by 19.6% to 209,100 units, while deliveries in the USA and China declined sharply. Specifically, BEV sales in China dropped by 30.1%, and in the USA, they fell by 86.4%. Year-to-date, global BEV deliveries reached 678,700 vehicles, down 5.4% from the previous year.
Brand-level results showed weakness for Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Audi, with sales down 22.4% and 21.5% respectively. Conversely, Porsche saw a 2.5% increase in Q3, and Škoda grew by 30% year-on-year. The gap between Volkswagen and Škoda in BEV sales narrowed to under 15,000 units in the third quarter.
Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and range-extender (EREV) sales increased by 23% in the first nine months of 2026, totaling 368,000 units. Despite current delivery declines, the group reports a positive outlook, noting that the order backlog for BEVs in Europe has grown by more than 60%, with the BEV share in the total order book rising to approximately 40%.
