Volkswagen is expanding its commercial electric vehicle lineup by introducing a long-wheelbase (LWB) version of the ID. Buzz Cargo. The new model measures approximately 5,000 mm in length, which is about 300 mm longer than the standard short-wheelbase (SWB) configuration. This extension increases the maximum cargo volume to 4.4 cubic meters, compared to 3.9 cubic meters in the standard model.

The LWB variant features a maximum load length of 2,405 mm, up from 2,208 mm in the SWB version. However, the maximum payload capacity for the LWB model is up to 697 kg, which is lower than the 750 kg capacity of the standard van. The vehicle will be equipped with hinged rear doors and a sliding side door as standard features.

Technical upgrades include a new steering wheel with physical buttons and an enhanced Travel Assist ADAS system. The LWB model will be available with an 86 kWh battery, targeting a WLTP range of approximately 300 miles. In comparison, the standard model uses a 79 kWh battery with a 277-mile range.

The powertrain options for the LWB version include single-motor and all-wheel-drive configurations. The 4MOTION system delivers up to 250 kW, or 335 hp, surpassing the 210 kW, or 281 hp, offered by the standard ID. Buzz Cargo. Volkswagen has not yet announced pricing or full specifications for the new long-wheelbase electric van.
