Volkswagen has officially opened pre-orders for the ID. Polo GTI, marking the first time the iconic GTI badge appears on an all-electric hot hatch. The vehicle is priced starting at €39 995, while the standard ID. Polo model begins at €24 995.
The car features a front-wheel-drive powertrain with an electric motor producing 222 hp and 290 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The model is equipped with a 52 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 431 km.
Charging capabilities include DC fast charging up to 105 kW, allowing the battery to reach 80% capacity from 10% in approximately 24 minutes. The vehicle includes a specialized GTI driving profile that adjusts steering, suspension, and drive settings for performance.
The interior features a 10.25-inch digital cockpit and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, including a retro display mode. The car measures 4 096 mm in length and provides 1 240 liters of load capacity with rear seats folded, exceeding the space of the gas-powered version.
Looking ahead, Volkswagen plans to expand its electric performance lineup. In early 2027, the company will open pre-orders for the ID.3 GTI, which will be the brand's first rear-wheel-drive electric vehicle to carry the GTI designation.
