Volkswagen is updating its 2027 model lineup in the United States with new driver assistance features. The Travel Assist system now includes an assisted lane-changing function, which operates at speeds exceeding 45 mph. When a driver activates the turn signal, radar sensors scan for adjacent traffic and execute the maneuver if the path is clear.

If traffic is detected, the system waits up to 12 seconds for the road to clear before attempting the lane change. Additionally, the new Emergency Assist Plus technology monitors driver engagement. If the car detects multiple lane departures or a lack of response, it automatically pulls over to the shoulder, shifts into Park, activates hazard lights, sounds the horn, and initiates an emergency call.

These updates apply to the 2027 Atlas, Golf, ID. Buzz, and Tiguan models. Furthermore, the Atlas, ID. Buzz, and Tiguan now feature a rearview camera capable of detecting pedestrians. The ID. Buzz also receives Road Experience Management data, which utilizes real-time information from road users to enhance map quality and navigation accuracy.
